Senior Optical Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a highly capable and research minded Senior Optical Engineer to make an immediate impact in the research and development of a portfolio of optical components and system solutions for the world's largest and most innovative display and lighting companies. Our products provide attractive performance and cost improvements for applications including LCD backlighting, LED displays and lighting, and projection screens. This position is within the Technology Group and is a research position. The focus is on inventing, developing and designing new optical components using existing Fusion Optix Advanced Polymer OpticsT technology and other new technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and execute engineering projects developing optical components for the global display and lighting markets.
  2. Design and develop advanced displays and optical products using optical modeling, experimental research, and new technology.
  3. Design, Construct and build display component prototypes meeting targeted performance goals.
  4. Assist where necessary in establishing new or improved measurement techniques for measuring optical properties of products or components.
  5. Analyze and specify optical properties of products and components.
  6. Assist in the generation of intellectual property.
Qualifications & Attributes:

The ideal candidate will hold a Masters or Doctorate in Optics or Physics from a top engineering university with up to 5 years of previous research experience in the area of non-imaging optics. The ideal candidate should also be able to demonstrate an ability to quickly understand the fundamentals of optical technologies, optical systems such as LCD backlights, LED displays and LED lighting. The candidate should possess a strong aptitude for the designing, building, and testing of engineering prototypes. Patent experience is preferred. Effective organization, interpretation, and communication of technical data is also critical. This is a senior research engineer position with great prospects for career advancement on a global stage.
